Microsoft OneNote for iPhone updated with Today widget and recent notes access

Microsoft has just updated the official iPhone app of its OneNote note-taking service with a couple of new features that make it easier to create and access notes.

Of the two, the more notable is undoubtedly the new Today widget of Microsoft OneNote for iPhone in the Notification Center on iOS 8.

As shown in the screenshot below, this widget includes buttons for quickly taking a note, snapping a photo, and starting a list. Also, it offers quick access to new and recently edited notes not only from OneNote for iPhone but from other OneNote apps on other devices as well.

New and recently edited notes from across devices are now also easily accessible through the new and aptly named Recent Notes section in the app.

The new version of OneNote for iPhone also includes bug fixes.

Microsoft OneNote for iPhone is available on the App Store for free.

Microsoft OneNote for iPad is also available on the App Store for free, although it’s yet to be updated with the new Today widget and Recent Notes features.

However, both OneNote for iPhone and OneNote for iPad were updated in September with a share extension, in October with Touch ID integration and other enhancements, and in November with support for background sync.

Yesterday, Microsoft updated the official iOS apps of Word, Excel, andPowerPoint with improved accessibility through VoiceOver and with an offer to sign up for an Office 365 subscription with the first month free.
